Troop Surge Announced
On Jan. 10, 2007, President George W. Bush announced a dramatic shift in U.S. strategy with the deployment of 30,000 additional troops to Iraq. By early August, field commanders began reporting better cooperation from Iraqi citizens, and U.S. combat deaths were declining. At first however this stirred up more attacks and deaths. These deaths were not just American; many were Baghdad civilians or enemy troops. Beside deaths another bad thing this troop surge caused was a surge in money; in fact it went from 125,000-200,000 on a steeper grid. You might ask was this a beneficial cost of war, well after the troop surge there was a quick spike in deaths then a steady decrease of attacks and deaths for all sides until the end of the war, also many more weapons were cleared
