"When September Ends" by Green Day
Lyrics:
Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends
Like my fathers come to pass
Seven years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends
Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are
As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends
Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends
Ring out the bells again
Like we did when spring began
Wake me up when September ends
Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are
As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends
Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends
Like my father's come to pass
Twenty years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
Lyrics:

Twenty years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
Analysis, by Blaise Jones
When September Ends by Green Day is an anti-war song, you can tell because before he was drafted they planned on always being together however after he was drafted she became distraught. What stands out the most about this song is when the song cuts and they are having conversations on why war is bad, but necessary. This being said I think that the song agrees with the foreign policy being internationalism, because they went into the war with minimal help from Britain. Beside the song showing how war can be necessary it also shows how war can impact the individual, for example the man is proud to represent his country and willing to give the ultimate sacrifice for who and what he loves however the women finds unnecessary and dangerous which saddens her and angers her. Finally I agree with the message to an extent, because I do think war is awful however sometimes it is necessary and if I were drafted I would take pride in it however if a close friend or relative was I would be worried for their safety always.
